Things to do (that we love too) in Pittsburgh!

We've compiled a little list of things that we love to do in our fair city in case you're looking for any 'insider fun' whilst in the 'burgh this weekend! We are REALLY looking forward to seeing all of you so very soon!

Restaurants:
People's Indian Restaurant- Our favorite Indian restaurant in Pittsburgh, as well as best lunch buffet! You will almost undoubtedly leave veeeerrrry full but verrrry satisfied.

Trams Kitchen, Vietnamese Cuisine- Another local favorite! Try the fresh spring rolls and the pho! but remember that it is cash only!

Smiling Banana Leaf- A fantastic Highland Park (Morgan's current neighborhood) Thai Restaurant. Small inside, but great for takeout. Try the Curry Fried Rice, Green Curry, or the Pad Thai.

Dinette- Delicious Seasonal Pizzas and more (with a local, sustainable focus)

Point Brugge Cafe
- Our favorite date spot! Located in a cute neighborhood, with great ambiance and great food! Try the mussels, cheese plate, or the salad with warmed goat cheese!

Coffeeshops:
Enrico's TazzaD'Oro- Morgan's place of work located in Highland Park! plus delicious coffees from Verve Coffee Roasters in Santa Cruz, CA. Try a French Press or a traditional Italian Cappuccino!

Espressso A Mano- One of our favorite spots to hang out, run into friends, and chat with the owner, our good friend Matt. There are cute boutiques galore on Butler Street in this artsy neighborhood of Lawrenceville. Serving Commonplace Espresso and Counter Culture Coffees. Try a latte and a sfogliatelle!

Voluto Coffee- Now our new neighborhood coffee shop, site of latte art throwdowns and some mega talented baristas. They serve 49th Parrallel and a variety of guest espressos. Excellent tea as well!

Other places to go!
The Andy Warhol Museum
The Mattress Factory (installation art museum!)
Carnegie Museum of Art
The Aviary
Phipps Conservatory

Hotel Information!

In our ongoing efforts to keep you all updated, here are two group hotel options available:

The Pittsburgh hotel is Springhill Suites by Marriott (Pittsburgh Bakery Square)
Address: 134 Bakery Square Pittsburgh, PA 15206 Phone: 412-362-8600

This is a brand new hotel opening in early May and they are holding 10 rooms for us (either King Suite with Pullout Sofa or Two Queen Suite with Pullout Sofa) for May 28-30 for $129 per night plus tax and parking. This hotel is just blocks from where we will live and probably about 2-3 miles from the church.

The other hotel is closer to the reception (in case some of you don't want to drive an hour late at night after the reception). This hotel is Comfort Inn--Grove City
Address: 118 Garrett Drive Grove City, PA 16127 Phone: 724-748-1005

This hotel is very close to the big outlet mall in Grove City and about 5 miles away from the barn where the reception will be held. It is about a 70 minute drive from the church. They are holding 10 rooms for $70 / night (same price for single or double room) plus tax and free parking.

Guests will need to make reservations by May 7, 2010 to guarantee these block prices. That is the cut off date set by the hotels to guarantee the discounts. After that they open rooms to the general public and everyone pays the going rate, which in Pittsburgh is $159 per night and in Grove City is $95 per night.

Let us know if you run into any problems!
